About a month ago, I wrote about being on the Carnivore Diet and what my experiences with it had been up until that point. I thought it would be good to update my progress and results so far.
I’m still doing it. 71 days so far. Still Intermittent Fasting (IF) as well.
Full disclosure: I had one “cheat” meal day where I had some carbs and sugar. Let’s explore this:
I ate 2 servings of white rice with one meal and the same day I had 3 mini dark chocolate peanut butter cups one day while watching a movie with my family.
Craaaaaaazy, right?
Shortly after eating the white rice, I started to feel hungry which I haven’t felt in a long while. I wasn’t really a fan of that feeling, but I sensed it was my body signaling it wanted more carbs, a no-no on the Carnivore Diet.
When I had the first dark chocolate peanut butter cup, I noticed that it tasted funny. Previously, I loved having these things and would limit myself to 2 or 3 of them once or twice a week when I wasn’t being super-strict with my diet. This time, there was a funny taste. t didn’t taste as good as I remembered.
I had to ask my wife if the treats tasted normal to her, she had one and said they did. So I thought that was strange. I wasn’t enjoying the taste, but I had two more just to be sure I wasn’t imagining this. I wasn’t.
I haven’t even been tempted to have anything sweet since. So I’m theorizing that not having any sugar of any kind for a while has maybe altered my taste buds some. This is an interesting development and not a bad one.
My weight has maintained… I fluctuate between 177 and 174 pounds, a weight I’m happy and very comfortable at.
My energy has stayed stable. No energy crashes. I wake up feeling wide awake, no brain fog, no sluggishness. Energy remains consistent throughout the day. A great thing for sure.
My aches and pains in my knees and back are still virtually gone. Definitely a good thing.
With all of this good stuff, why would I want to change the way I’m eating? At this point, I don’t think I’m going to. I’ll keep doing what I’m doing, remaining consistent and allow myself, if I feel like it, to indulge once in a while at a family gathering or special event.
If you’re on the fence about trying The Carnivore Diet, as I’ve mentioned in my previous post, give it an honest effort. I’ve only had positive results from it and don’t see any good reason to stop eating this way. Check out The Carnivore Diet by Shawn Baker for all the information and science behind the diet (that is my affiliate link). If you want to learn more about Intermittent Fasting (IF), I wrote about it here.
Hope this information helps anyone who needs it, and I hope you enjoy the weekend! Don’t forget to get your workout in!
