A2G2 – Water & Hydration

There are a lot of pieces to the fitness puzzle and putting them together so they all work synergistically to get you in your best shape is challenging.  One of the biggest pieces and easiest to begin doing immediately is keeping yourself properly hydrated.  What does that mean?

It means you need to drink more water.  The consensus minimum amount from most doctors and healthcare professionals is 8 glasses of water-a-day.  I personally drink a MINIMUM 1 gallon of water-a-day and recommend it to anyone who is serious about not only getting in shape but getting and being healthier.

Our bodies are mostly made up of water, so doesn’t it make sense that we be primarily drinking and replenishing the most abundant element in our body?

You’re probably thinking, “How can I drink that much water?  Won’t I be peeing all day?”  At first, probably.  But once your body adjusts and is acclimated to the proper amount of water you’re giving it, all should return to normal.  In the summer, I often drink closer to 2 gallons and I add a teaspoon of pink Himalayan salt too (to replenish any lost minerals) because I tend to sweat a lot.  But that’s just me.

2 gallons a day?!? That’s a lot of water.

There are numerous benefits to drinking this much water.  Healthier looking skin is one that most people can get on board with.

Fewer headaches if you’re someone that is prone to them (a lot of headaches could be a sign of dehydration).

Drinking more water can keep you feeling fuller so you’re not wanting to eat more food than you need, which is super helpful if you’re trying to cut back on your caloric intake to help drop some unwanted excess pounds.

Drinking more water helps to keep the body’s systems moving properly and helps with the elimination of harmful bacteria and chemicals that we are constantly being exposed to.  There’s so much more, but these should give you a good idea.

Hopefully, this brief article has helped explain some of the benefits and importance of staying properly hydrated.  Now go pour yourself a glass of cool, refreshing water and have a drink to your health and success.
