Staying Healthy in Lockdown

It’s been a little over a month since everything shutdown. I can honestly say it’s never something I thought would ever happen, but here we are.

Gyms are closed. Restaurants, if open, are strictly takeout or delivery only. Most small businesses have been forced to shut down. Millions of people in the United States lost their jobs due to businesses being forced to close. Those still employed are working from home. Schools are closed.

Everyone is dealing with the current situation in different ways.

While sitting at home, it’s very easy to sit around, eat junk food, watch TV, and play video games. It’s also very easy to continue your good, healthy habits.

We cannot control ANYTHING in our lives except for how WE act and react to situations. We cannot control others and their actions or reactions.

So what are you doing to maintain your health during this time?

Are you working on achieving your health and fitness goals? Are you exercising daily?

There’s literally NO GOOD REASON not to be. Get outside and take a walk DAILY. If you don’t have weights or exercise equipment at home, bodyweight exercises can get and keep you in shape. Resistance bands are also another good way to go and fairly inexpensive.

Eating good, healthy, nutritious food has never been easier. You’re at home! You can make your meals fresh daily! If you can’t cook, now’s the perfect time to learn! No having to mass prep and eat re-heated meals… fresh made meals daily can now be a thing!

If you’ve been down and negative, it’s understandable. But making a few adjustments in your routine can keep you on track and moving forward towards your health and fitness goals.

This current situation will end. No one knows exactly when, but it will. Will you come out of it having put on a few unwanted pounds, depressed, fearful, negative, down on yourself and life?

Or will you continue or START exercising, eating well, and maintaining or building healthy habits? You can come out of this situation, stronger, leaner, healthier, with good, healthy habits… a better version of yourself than you were before the current situation took over the world.

You have a choice. But as the Grail Knight in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade said, “You must choose… but choose wisely.”

Always Activate. Get Going.
